Artcurial Motorcars returns with its highly anticipated collectors’ car sales of the year, Rétromobile 2019, by Artcurial Motorcars, to be held on February 8, 2019, in Paris. Recently, the auction house has revealed the ex-Trintignant 1931 Bugatti Type 51 châssis #51128 as the star of their upcoming auction. Some of the major highlights of this car are that it was in the hands of Jean-Claude Miloe for 27 years. It was this car with which Maurice Trintignant won his first Grand Prix race and it is considered one of the most desirable Bugatti Grand Prix. The managing director of Artcurial Motors, Matthieu Lamoure, said, “Few Grand Prix Bugatti can claim to be as original as this 51. Coming from a major collection, this rare and sought-after model, with transparent history, will be one of the indisputable stars of Rétromobile 2019.” While talking about the origins and the history of this car, Artcurial states, “After delivering a first Bugatti Type 51 in France, at the end of April 1931 to Count Stanislas Czaykowski, the Factory is preparing in May for two new cars for the French market. They are intended for the two most titled and experienced amateur Bugatti drivers in the country: Jean Gaupillat and Marcel Lehoux. The Bugatti Type 51 with engine number 9 is assembled for Gaupillat, while Lehoux is assigned the motor car 10. The latter receives, in the chronological order list, the chassis number 51128. It is built at the request of the client and is not taken among the factory cars prepared for the 1931 season. It is therefore void of any participation in the race, when it is delivered in Paris, on June 1, 1931, to Marcel Lehoux, a native of Algiers who has a large general mechanics workshop, at 13 rue Auber in Algiers. The Bugatti is sold to him at the price of 140000 Frs.” This 1931 Bugatti Type 51 had passed through the hands of several owners, including Marcel Lehoux, Louis Trintignant, Jules Rolland, Maurice Trintignant, Jacques Lefranc, and Pierre-Yves Laugier. The pre-auction value of this ex-Trintignant 1931 Bugatti Type 51 at the Artcurial Paris Auction is estimated to be around €4,000,000 -€4,500,000. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
