In a Republican Party now indistinguishable from white nationalism, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) has long played footsie with white supremacists, neo-Confederates, European extremists and open endorsers of both Hitler and his Nazis. He is also the defacto leader of Republican immigration policy, and those two things are not, by any stretch, coincidental. It was obvious that King would be fully and vocally supportive of the administration's new «zero tolerance» policy and resulting child detention camps. “These are children that are cared for with better care than they get in their home country,” he said. “They get a warm and a comfortable place to sleep, they get medical care like a lot of kids in this country don’t get, they get three squares a day. They get exercise fresh air. So I don’t know how you could ask for more than that.” It is not mere rhetoric to say Steve King pals around with Europe's fascists and neo-Nazis. Last week he was widely condemned for retweeting British neo-Nazi Mark Collett: King added «Europe is waking up...Will America...in time?» Not many tweets from that, King demanded the release of British extremist «Tommy Robinson,» currently serving prison time for violating a British court order. Robinson heads a violent ultra-nationalist faction, has been arrested for violence on multiple occasions, and after being barred from entry into the U.S. due to drug charges, illegally entered the United States using false papers in 2012. That's right, King was using the power of his congressional office to demand leniency for a convicted «criminal illegal alien» because of the criminal's white nationalist status. You can genuinely and accurately describe Rep. Steve King as a neo-Nazi supporter. His constituents continue to be fine with that, suggesting that King's Iowa district may indeed be the most racist congressional seat in the nation. Of course he's offering praise for Trump's child internment camps. Of course he's claiming that refugees now held as child prisoners have it much better than even some of our American children and should be thanking the government for their detention. Of course he did. Urgent: We’re raising money to help keep immigrant families together—or bring them back together after separation. Can you give $5? Read more
