Last week, Donald Trump let loose with yet another racist rant against immigrants: “These aren’t people. These are animals.” After being called out for his vile eliminationist rhetoric, Team Trump—including the Racist-in-Chief himself—insisted that he was talking about MS-13 gang members. Unfortunately for the White House, no one was buying it. And so, nearly a week later, Trump’s communications team is on it, issuing a press release to prove Trump isn’t a racist: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE VIOLENT ANIMALS OF MS-13 In it we learn—10 times!—that a violent gang is violent and are totally the animals Trump was ranting about last week: The violent animals … violence of MS-13’s animals … MS-13 animals … The MS-13 animals … The two MS-13 animals … by MS-13 animals … MS-13’s animals … by MS-13 animals ... the animals of MS-13 … these violent animals ... Of course no one is defending MS-13 and no one is suggesting they aren’t violent. But if the crack communications team at the White House really wants to prove that Trump isn’t a racist, and that he wasn’t launching yet another dehumanizing attack against immigrants, maybe they should get him to stop launching dehumanizing attacks and policies against immigrants.
