“Fashion Design at The Dali” is a special exhibit at the Salvador Dalí Museum, featuring 22 photographs of garments designed by budding fashion artists. The designers whose works are on showcase are from four counties in the Tampa Bay area — they have completed a 13-week “Fashion Design at The Dalí” program. The workshop participants, students from 18 different high schools, were trained on the fundamentals of design and construction techniques by experts in the field. They were taught to explore the various use of non-traditional materials and the quintessence of runaway presentations by experienced artists and designers, specially invited to the workshop. The students, during this workshop, explored the connections between art and fashion, creating runway-ready wearable art inspired by the work of surrealist Salvador Dalí and renowned fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. Also featured in this exhibit is the winning designs from The Dalí’s Fashion Design Challenge, a rendering inspired by The Hallucinogenic Toreador, Kaitlin Grant. The exhibition will run through December 31, 2017, at Salvador Dalí Museum, Dali Blvd, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, USA.For details, visit http://thedali.org/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibit.
