Border officials had to be forced into hospitalizing four toddlers that were dying on their watch

Attorneys made Border Patrol officials hospitalize four severely sick migrant toddlers—including a “completely unresponsive” girl who was so sick that her “eyes were rolled back in her head”—following a recent inspection of a detention facility in McAllen, Texas. “The children, all under age 3 with teenage mothers or guardians, were feverish, coughing, vomiting and had diarrhea, immigration attorneys told HuffPost on Friday. Some of the toddlers and infants were refusing to eat or drink.”  The children were hospitalized only because the attorneys, who had been inspecting a number of border facilities as part of the Flores Agreement, forced detention officials to do it; and this is the same location where attorneys found that officials had been jailing another sick child, a prematurely born one-month-old infant, and her 17-year-old mother for days. They were released from the facility only because attorneys and advocates raised hell. These kids would very likely have been dead had attorneys and advocates not intervened. Children have already died in immigration custody, and rather than taking swift steps to prioritize the well-being of children in U.S. custody, officials appear to be letting conditions for them deteriorate. “It’s intentional disregard for the well-being of children,” said attorney Toby Gialluca. “The guards continue to dehumanize these people and treat them worse than we would treat animals.” In another incident cited by New York magazine, attorney Warren Binford said border officials treated a lice outbreak among children jailed at a Clint, Texas, border facility by giving them two combs to share, “something you never do with a lice outbreak.” When the children lost one of the combs, Binford said, “Border Patrol agents got so mad that they took away the children’s blankets and mats. They weren’t allowed to sleep on the beds, and they had to sleep on the floor on Wednesday night as punishment for losing the comb.” They punished them for losing a comb by taking away their blankets and sleeping mats. Immigrant rights advocates knew from the first day of Donald Trump’s campaign announcement what his presidency could mean for immigrant communities, but the cruelty has stretched far beyond the imaginable, such as an administration attorney saying kids shouldn’t even be able to have a fucking toothbrush. This has gone beyond neglect. These are human rights abuses, and they’re being committed against innocent children by the United States government.

Where is the national media coverage? A woman made a credible accusation Donald Trump raped her

It’s been three days since journalist and advice columnist E. Jean Carroll published an account alleging Donald Trump raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the mid-1990s, and it still hasn’t been front-page news in the nation’s largest newspapers. With the exception of Joy Reid on MSNBC, it was not a topic on the Sunday-morning talk shows. Why? Carroll joins at least 15 other women who’ve come forward to say Trump either sexually harassed or sexually assaulted them. The accusations span decades, and they show a crystal-clear pattern of Trump forcing himself on women. So where is the round-the-clock coverage? Why isn’t it a leading story in every newspaper in the nation? As CNN commentator Jess McIntosh noted, The New York Times did cover the story— and buried it in the Books section.  It’s one thing to read the harrowing account by Carroll; it is another thing to hear her describe the attack in her own words. She still vividly recalls the details of the attack: the items he picked up from the department store counter. What he demanded she try on. How he violently attacked her in the dressing room. How she physically fought back. Carroll even kept the coat she was wearing that day, buried in the back of her closet all this time. She was photographed wearing the coat for the New York magazine article in which she details the attack. This is difficult to hear, but it is important. Listen to Carroll’s account and ask yourself if this warrants further coverage and accountability. Is it time to revisit the sixteen credible accusations?

Givenchy Unveiled Men’s Spring/Summer 2020 Collection in Florence

Givenchy recently unveiled its Men’s Spring Summer 2020 collection. It is the first all-masculine collection designed by Clare Waight Keller. It was launched during the Pitti Immagine Uomo show in Florence.British Designer Clare Waight Keller has been serving as Artistic Director of Maison Givenchy since May 2017. Her women’s collections have put her on to the pedestal and her talent brought her to Givenchy and further elevate it by being its creative head. Not just women’s clothing but men’s clothing too inspire her. She has been equally involved with the masculine silhouette and putting her creative juices to work for them. After all the success that she achieved by unveiling her debut silhouettes for men during Paris Fashion Week last winter, the Givenchy Artistic Director presented her first all-masculine collection in Florence, emitting a palpable energy and garnering fans appreciation.“In the labyrinthian gardens of Villa Palmieri, Givenchy men’s silhouettes breathed with ample volumes, set off by a palette ranging from fresco shades of damask rose, buttermilk and powder blue to inky midnight, burgundy and gunmetal. The chiaroscuro invokes the dark poetry of Charles Baudelaire, underscored by ‘Fleurs du Mal’ calligraphy fragmented into abstract prints,” says LVMH.The collection is a mix of formal and informal fashion, at times fusing the two. It includes body hugging cycling tops that acts like a second skin beneath suits, boxy short-sleeved shirts as well as cargo pants. Soft jackets in three-button and double-breasted shapes, sometimes sleeveless, are cut in gleaming technical cottons, crisp checks and subtle pinstripes, paired with straight or wide 90’s pans. The house of Givenchy was founded in 1952 by designer Hubert de Givenchy. Shirt dresses that are very popular these days was presented by Hubert de Givenchy in 1954. As a tribute to the penchant for opulence of the Maison’s founder Hubert de Givenchy, Italian jacquards are reborn as overcoats and pants, morphing from traditional scrolling florals into new pixelated forms, as per LVMH.For the uninitiated, Givenchy is a French luxury fashion as well as perfume house. The house manages the brand of haute couture clothing, accessories and Parfums Givenchy, perfumes and cosmetics. Givenchy is a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture et du Pret-a-Porter. The brand is owned by luxury conglomerate LVMH. Keller is the first woman to hold the position of Artistic Director.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the collection.    https://www.blouinartinfo.com/              Founder: Louise Blouin
