But her emails: Ivanka Trump used personal email account to conduct government business

But her, sigh, emails. Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules, according to people familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence. Yeah, that's right. After the 2016 election from hell, in which we learned that government email retention protocols are among this nation's most sacred duties, et cetera, and so forth, top White House adviser Ivanka was staggeringly unclear on how all that email business should work. She and Jared set up their own private email addresses during the transition, and Ivanka just kept using it once she was given a White House desk. And we are assured, since Ivanka Trump is both SUPER POWERFUL IMPORTANT ADVISER PERSON and doted-upon daughter of an idiot manchild, one who cannot possibly do wrong and always has secret private opinions that are much less monstrous than the stuff the people she advises end up doing, that this was all a big oops because she didn't know the rules and nobody told her the rules and to be honest the very concept of «rules» is so baffling to everyone in this White House that we should just be grateful for each day that passes without her and Jared trying to steal the copper wiring out of the walls. People close to Ivanka Trump said she never intended to use her private email to shroud her government work. After she told White House lawyers she was unaware that she was breaking any email rules, they discovered that she had not been receiving White House updates and reminders to all staff about prohibited use of private email, according to people familiar with the situation. Yeah. Yeah, that's what we're gonna go with. Ivanka Trump was Extremely Super Unclear on whether or not there were special rules surrounding government email usage. Totally slipped her mind. Nobody on staff bothered to mention it. Oopsie-poopsie, and so forth.

Scott Lloyd should have been fired for his role in family separation; instead, he's been transferred

Scott Lloyd, the anti-abortion zealot and Trump official tasked with heading the office caring for migrant kids, despite having zero experience caring for migrant kids, has been moved, and not to a prison for his role in family separation, but to the Health and Human Services (HHS) “Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, where he'll be a senior adviser,” Politico reports. “Lloyd, a longtime anti-abortion advocate, is writing a book about his views on abortion, POLITICO reported last week. HHS has said that Lloyd’s personal beliefs have not influenced his leadership of its refugee office.” Odd, because he spent his time heading the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) trying to block abortion access for undocumented teens, including instructing ORR “to make pregnant minors undergo invasive and unnecessary ultrasounds and visit anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers,” Daily Kos’s Sarah Hogg wrote in May. But Lloyd had extremism to spread all around, single-handedly prolonging the detention of hundreds of migrant kids, Huffington Post’s Roque Planas reported in July, by telling “subordinates last year that he’d have to personally sign off before any kids could be released from ORR’s secure facilities. As a result, hundreds of kids spent extra time in the jail-like facilities.” Flash forward a few months later, and Lloyd “was effectively removed as refugee director this summer after his office struggled to care for and reunite thousands of migrant children who were separated from their families,” Politico continues. To date, officials continue to have separated kids in U.S. custody, in blatant violation of a federal judge’s order, and in harmful conditions. Typical for a know-nothing like Lloyd to fail upwards. He still needs to go.  “You can go back and check my comments on this: I’ve called for his resignation,” Congress member Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut said about Lloyd this past May in seeking his ouster from ORR. “I have no faith in him at all. I think his own ideological beliefs will get in the way of doing something effective.”

Trump ally Rep. Jim Jordan wants a top judiciary spot so he can continue covering things up

We don't even know the final outcome of the last few House races yet, but Republican House members are already battling to be Donald Trump’s bestest and most loyal investigation-saboteur. Leadership of Congress will shift from Republicans to Democrats, next January, due to the absolute routing Republicans got in this month's elections, and that change is widely expected to result in Democrats investigating all the crookedness and corruption that Republicans couldn't be bothered with, these last two years. The Russia investigation, investigations into cabinet corruption, investigations into the apparent criminal acts the New York Times discovered after prying loose a bare handful of Trump's prior tax documents, investigations into foreign government payments to Trump's private businesses: Republicans have blocked each. Now the same Republicans who blocked those investigations the last two years are seeking top committee slots to continue that effort, and as usual Rep. Jim Jordan is quite certain he deserves the most top spot around. [Jordan] on Friday began flirting openly with a bid to serve as the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, the panel where a flood of Democratic-led investigations, and potential impeachment, will begin. You have to admit, Jordan's sales pitch is simple. When you've done a crime that needs covering up, you'd be stupid not to rely on Rep. Jim Jordan. Rep. Jim Jordan will cover up anything. Did a family member get caught colluding with Russian agents? Rep. Jim Jordan didn't see a thing. Is the team doctor for your collegiate wrestling program widely known by athletes for his sexual assaults? Jim Jordan not only didn't see a thing, Jim Jordan will forget every single instance of anyone telling him about it! It's not quite as foolproof as simply finding all the witnesses to your crime and burying them in cement, but by God he will do his best. Jordan is not next in line for the Judiciary slot, but according to Politico Donald Trump has already called Republican leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy to boost Jordan's chances of gaining that or another top spot. Trump knows who he likes, and Trump likes anyone willing to potentially sabotage their own career in order to best protect Donald Trump. It's unclear if Trump's promotion will be enough to offset Jordan's main problem: As a top «Freedom Caucus» member, Jordan has been a real jackass to his party's leadership these last few years and that leadership doesn't have to give him a damn thing, if they decide it's time for a little payback. But there doesn't seem to be any question that whoever the Republicans pick for that slot, the party is still obsessively dedicated to ensuring that none of the investigations that they should have been launching in the last two years moves more than an inch forward, now that Democrats are in charge. It doesn't matter what Trump did; what matters is what they can do for Trump.
