Climate lobbying is big business. A new analysis shows that between 2000 and 2016, lobbyists spent more than two billion dollars on influencing relevant legislation in the US Congress. Unsurprisingly, sectors that could be negatively affected by bills limiting carbon emissions, such as the electrical utilities sector, fossil fuel companies and transportation corporations had the deepest pockets.

Balmain recently collaborated with Beyonce for a capsule collection. The collection was recently unveiled and is made available for sale.“Balmain x Beyonce, is based on key Olivier Rousteing designs for Beyonce’s iconic Coachella weekends, riffs on the signature varsity styles and legacy of more than 100 America’s historically black colleges and universities. Proceeds from the collection, fittingly, will be used to help fund the impressive work of UNCF, which helps thousands of students attend college, thrive, graduate and become tomorrow’s leaders,” says the Balmain website. It all started when Beyonce and her troupe were wearing their Balmain designed marching band outfits while practicing. The dancers were enjoying the outfit and so was she. This is when it struck to the Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing that they can take Beyonce’s stage outfits to the stores and can come up with a collection to make her fans happy. Thus the corner stone for the Balmain x Beyonce collaboration was laid and rest, as they say, is history. The collaboration yielded collection that was launched in mid July. Balmain launched a three-piece Balmain x Beyonce collection in its Paris flagship. The collection is also available online. The collection includes pink and yellow sweatshirts that Beyonce flaunted on stage at Coachella. A black tee also features in the collection with the same graphic.Rousteing had reportedly said that this coming together of music and fashion is a big thing and that he wants the association to do well. As per him Beyonce is an epitome of empowerment and is a strong woman. The fact that she is a perfectionist drives everyone around her to perform better. He believes that they are on the same page. They shared the same vision for their respective domain and brought the same to the collection. The collection is more than just clothes and that the collection carries a message. The message is to never stop dreaming. Beyonce’s global success is a great tool to spread the message of standing for women’s rights and standing against racism. As per Rousteing the clothes talk to the millennial about the things they wish and the things they can achieve. He feels everyone around these days are fortunate enough to be witnessing so much and having the exposure and the know-how. It was difficult during his growing up years in France.Proceeds from the collaboration will go to the United Negro College Fund!Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the Balmain x Beyonce collectionhttp://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin

Hermes recently launched a new collection of fine jewellery called Enchainements Libres. The unique launch event took place in Paris. The occasion saw dance performance at La Gaite Lyrique. The performance saw humans (ballerinas) moving slowly and gradually forming links by interlocking arms, probably trying to re-create the charm of links and chains present in the jewellery pieces. The dance was the conceptualisation of Pierre Hardy, the Creative Director of the fine jewellery division, who says, “The chain connects and interconnects opposites, it attaches and liberates.”The spectacular show was presented live during Paris couture week. The show was choreographed by Christian Rizzo. The performers were dressed in black so that the jewels they wore attracted eye balls, which the jewels managed to do successfully.“The whole collection is designed around the body. The chain allowed me to make the link between the cosmetic and the cosmos, words which share the same origin, and which are related to order and harmony,” says Hardy talking about his inspiration as per the Hermes website. He adds, “When you design an item of clothing, the body gives an absolute, pre-established scale, while with jewellery you are free to move from small to large, from single to multiple elements,”“These pieces of jewellery are conceived as extensions of the body. I always seek to understand how they will actually be articulated, how they will flex and move with the body. They reveal gestures, enhance postures. They are objects with a lot of personality, light and radiance,” adds Hardy. Her further says that far from the jewellery of former times, which obstructed movement, these pieces are designed for modern lifestyles. They dance in unison with the bodies that wear them. “I always seek that which will be beautiful, that which will appeal to a woman that which will bring the form to life as strikingly as possible. Beauty is all about impact. I try to find the right balance between the experimental and the fine jeweller’s know-how: une joaillerie de la forme,” concludes Hardy. The collection has one of the iconic jewellery pieces called Chaine d'ancre that has been designed as a chocker with a big chunk of rock crystal. The French high fashion luxury goods manufacturer, Hermes was established in 1837. Its specialities are ready-to-wear, leather, watches, lifestyle accessories, perfumery, home furnishings, and jewellery.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the collection http://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin
