A new post-debate poll shows Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren leading the field by multiple metrics among Democratic primary voters. The poll conducted by Civiqs for Data for Progress included both a pre-debate and post-debate sample, which showed very little change in voters' preferences. Following the debate, primary voters favored Warren as their first choice for Democratic nominee: Warren: 30% Biden: 24% Sanders: 14% Buttigieg: 6% Harris: 6% Warren also topped their list for second choice, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Vice President Joe Biden slipped to fourth and fifth, respectively, by that measure: Warren: 27% Harris: 11% Buttigieg: 11% Sanders: 10% Biden: 9% But Warren also dominated when voters were asked who they would choose if they could «wave a magic wand» and make any one of the Democratic candidates president: Warren: 30% Biden: 16% Sanders: 15% Buttigieg: 10% Harris: 9% Interestingly, Warren picks up her largest number of “second-choice” voters almost equally from Sanders and Harris supporters: 59% of Sanders supporters chose Warren second, while 57% of Harris supporters made Warren their second choice. Warren also picked up 37% of Biden supporters and 36% of Buttigieg supporters. Overall, Warren was the top second pick of every other top five candidates' voters. Warren voters, on the other hand, picked the following as their top 4 second choices: Sanders, 21%; Buttigieg, 21%, Harris, 20%; Biden, 13%. Read more
