Existing at the forefront of Haute Horlogerie since 1995, Roger Dubuis has been designing contemporary timepieces that showcase the best of what the 21st-century has to offer. The brand is also famed for its use of advanced watchmaking mechanisms that are combined with powerful and daring designs. Additionally, the house’s longstanding partnerships with brands such as Pirelli have resulted in a common focus on aesthetics and high-tech materials. The exclusive alliance with Pirelli is now two years old and Roger Dubuis got to witness the testing of the brand-new high-power tyres at the Pirelli proving ground in Flurheden, Sweden. To mark the launch of the patented studded tyre Pirelli Ice Zero, which is designed to deliver high performance on ice, Roger Dubuis has created a new timepiece.Describing the new timepiece in a press release, Roger Dubuis highlighted its “sport aesthetic and famous skeleton signature, complete with double flying tourbillon.” Billed as the Excalibur Pirelli Ice Zero 2 timepiece, it features one of the world’s highest complications. The offering therefore falls well within the realm of Haute Horlogerie, and is powered by a Poincon de Geneve certified self-winding mechanical calibre RD105SQ with a power reserve of 52 hours. The strap of the watch borrows from the new pattern on the tyre that Pirelli has created for dealing with ice bound tracks. Called the ICE ZERO 2, the pattern is recreated with the help of stainless steel nails on the strap. The case of the watch measures 47mm and it is water resistant up to a depth of 50m underwater.Click on the slideshow to check the timepiece.http://www.blouinartinfo.comFounder: Louise Blouin Read more
