Collectible Design Fair returns to the Vanderborght building in Brussels for its second edition, from March 14-17. Dedicated to 21st-century Contemporary collectible design, the fair presents latest design pieces from 90 international exhibitors this year, alongside curated projects and special commissions.Some of the highlights from leading designers and design studios include DIM Atelier’s unique lighting pieces, Nathalie Van der Massen’s intricate textiles, Carla Baz’s Lebanese and French inspired designs, and Kostia’s wood and bronze furniture influenced by the designer’s mix of Russian, Corsican and Belgian heritage. Studiokhachatryan is launching a new collection of wood, metal and stone works. Studio Furthermore debuts its latest range of ceramic foam craftworks, and Marcin Rusak Studio showcases Rothko inspired pieces.Established galleries such as MANIERA, Victor Hunt, valerie_traan, ToolsGalerie, and A1043 Gallery present pieces by practitioners from a mixed range of disciplines including art, architecture, and design. The Impermanent Collection presents new works by Ker-Xavier- alias for artist duo Benoit Maire and Marie Corbin. It’s GREAT DESIGN! brings to the fair new pieces by Atelier Lavit.This year, Collectible introduces two curated sections, providing participants with spaces for experimentation and discovery. One of the sections focuses on art galleries seeking to explore the convergence between Contemporary art and design through functional art.For instance, the works of sculptor Johan Creten and painter Jean-Baptiste Bernadet presented by Almine Rech Gallery. The other section explores pioneering ideas in design from recent graduates from schools such as the Design Academy Eindhoven and Royal College of Art. The highlights include studio Raw Material’s use of Indian craft techniques to create marble pieces and Nicolas Erauw’s employment of lost-wax casting for metal moulding.Visitors also get a peek into Stine Mikkelsen’s development of newly composite materials for the production of idiosyncratic objects.In commissioned projects, Design Museum Gent, ADAM — Design Museum Brussels and CID au Grand- Hornu have partnered for a joint commission. Rotterdam-based Studio Verter creates the fair’s scenography this year with an emphasis on sustainability in its choice of materials.The debut edition last year was a success with an attendance of over 10,000 visitors and galleries and designers reporting strong sales and valuable networking opportunities.
