With the Tourbillon Souverain Vertical, F.P. Journe is celebrating high precision, and the timeless style that its founder Francois-Paul Journe has cultivated, since he launched his first timepiece in 1999. The company has since then built a reputation as a leading Swiss manufacturer and released several award-winning timepieces. The first Tourbillon Souverain created by Francois-Paul Journe was launched in 1999, and featured a remontoir d’egalite within the wristwatch. The timepiece has since then undergone several iterations and the 2003 new generation version came with a natural deadbeat second. The 20th anniversary of the wristwatch features a tourbillon cage that is vertical — quite different from the horizontal cage that is used traditionally. Francois-Paul Journe states that the design ensures “functions remain constant whether the watch lies flat or is placed on its side.” The Tourbillon Souverain combines a vertical tourbillon with a remontoir d’egalite, while the deadbeat second is faster than the usual time of one minute and makes one revolution every 30 seconds. The watch has a cone-shaped mirror-polished ring, which surrounds the tourbillon cage and reflects light from it. A rose gold bridge is present along with high quality Clous de Paris guilloche and an enamel hour dial at 3 o’clock. At 12 o’clock there is an 80-hour power reserve while small seconds are positioned at 6 o’clock, and the remontoir d’egalite is at 7 o’clock. The watch has a 42 mm case, which comes in two materials platinum or in 18k 6N gold, and it is powered by a Calibre 1519 manual winding movement.Click on the slideshow to check the timepiece.http://www.blouinartinfo.comFounder: Louise Blouin Read more
