On the one-year anniversary of the tragic mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins honored those whose lives were lost. At 10:17 a.m., which was the exact time the attack started a year ago today, both teams stopped practice and held a 17-second moment of silence to honor the 17 people — 14 of whom were students — whose lives were taken from them. Last year, the Marlins and MLB as a whole did everything possible to offer support and assist in healing the community after the senseless, horrifying act of violence unfolded. Teams wore Stoneman Douglas hats during spring training, and players reached out to offer comfort and speak out against the act of terrorism. Read more
