Galerie VIVID brings together the works of three Rotterdam-based design studios in “Have a Ball,” which starts in the end-of-the-year festive period and is all about having a party, according to the gallery. The three studios participating in the exhibition are: Rotganzen, Chris Kabel, and Nightshop. The title comes from Peggy Lee’s song: “...Is that all there is/If that's all there is, my friends/Then let's keep dancing/Let's break out the booze and have a ball.”Rotganzen is led by designers Robin Stam, Joeri Horstink, and Erik Schilp. The studio came into international spotlight with their work “Quelle Fete,” the iconic shape of the discoball that is reborn with new character and meaning in an ode to the happy days of disco, as described by the gallery. In the ongoing exhibition, Rotganzen also presents three new poufs, a star, a heart, and a smiley, based on oversized letter garlands and made of glittering faux leather.Chris Kabel brings his Office Party Lamp, which he had designed for the Portikus art centre in Frankfurt. Kabel transformed cool neon fixtures into a merry mix of colors by sliding a transparent garland over it, according to Galerie VIVID.Nightshop presents a white metal cupboard. Designer Ward van Gemert of Nightshop signed for three days in a row on a white metal cupboard everything that came in his mind when he thought about having a party. After that, he coated the cupboard with a thick layer of clean resin. The “joyful” cupboard recalls the famous work of Italian artist and designer Fornasetti, according to the gallery. Nightshop also presents a big lamp that changes color depending on where the viewer is standing. The lamp is designed by Ward van Gemert and Adriaan van der Ploeg. The exhibition is on view through February 10, 2019 at Galerie VIVID, Red Apple building, Scheepmakershaven 17, 3011VA RotterdamFor more details, visit: www.galerievivid.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
