MVRDV’s RED7 project — the firm’s first building in Russia — has been officially launched. New visualizations of the proposed design were recently released by the Dutch architects.RED7, previously known as The Silhouette, will act as a symbolic gateway into the city centre of Moscow. The structure takes inspiration from its neighboring constructivist buildings. The building is located at the intersection of Academician Sakharov avenue and Sadovaya-Spasskaya street, also home to the Le Corbusier Tsentrosoyuz Building and Narkomzem, the constructivist designed Ministry of Agriculture by Alexey Shchusev. Situated on a corner plot, RED7 will stand at a height of 78 metres, providing panoramic views of the city’s skyline from the apartments. The building’s facade will feature specially customized red bricks, referencing the constructivist heritage nearby which also emphasizes the project’s warm and welcoming nature, according to MVRDV. “Inside, the interiors will be completed by a variety of interior designers, including two Dutch offices, Sabine Marcelis and i29 interior architects, and a Russian office, Oleg Klodt. MVRDV won the competition to design RED7 for client GK Osnova in December 2017 and the project was accepted by the architectural committee of Moscow in the summer of 2018,” writes MVRDV.Ranging from 27 to 253 square meters in size, the 289 apartments are complemented by a variety of facilities including a two-floor fitness centre with a swimming pool, a sky lounge with a large outside terrace, children’s playroom, co-working space, rentable party space, a cinema, a shopping area, a supermarket, and parking for up to 284 cars. While 60% of the apartments have access to the city’s views, over 20% make the most of their position with external terraces.Construction on the building will begin at the end of this month, with completion planned for 2022, according to MVRDV.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the project. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
