Studio Adjective designs a minimal and light-weighted three-legged “Tripodal Stool” for Ishinomaki Laboratory.Designed by Hong Kong’s Studio Adjective, the minimal and light-weighted three-legged “Tripodal Stool” embraces Ishinomaki Laboratory’s concept of simplicity and fine handmade wooden furniture with a touch of sophistication. The Laboratory was founded in 2011 as a public workshop for the local community devastated by the tsunami. The “Tripodal Stool” is composed of just six rectangular pieces of Japanese cedar, comprising three chair legs, two seat plates, and a low back.“The front leg is slightly slanted at seven degrees to enhance the stability of the base and yet creating an iconic signature for the stool. A special fixing method is being used for connecting the sitting plates and slanted leg in order to minimize additional structure needed for stability,” writes the design studio. The stool can be used as a bedside table with the gap in its seat providing space for the cord of a table lamp or mobile phone charger cable.Having previously collaborated with Keiji Ashisawa, Tomoko Azumi and Torafu Architects, who made A-shaped stools that slot together to make a bench, the Tripodal Stool is the studio's first project with the Japanese brand.Hong Kong based Studio Adjective is co-founded by Emily Ho and Wilson Lee. As a creative multidisciplinary design agency, Adjective insists to design with strategies that focus on connections with human, community, and the city. Thus, creating the project with a unique adjective and enhance the project’s self-sustainability in the market. Recent projects include Galleon FashionWalk, Furniture collaboration with Ishinomaki Lab 石卷工房, Tencent Doctorswork & NOC coffee - Gough St & Sai Ying Pun.http://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
