Rio Grande announced the winners of the 18th Saul Bell Design Award at the Santa Fe Symposium. The company’s Creative Director Jamie Gros stated how the annual award features talented designers and their work and this year was no exception. Taking top honors at the awards was “Origami, Window with a View” created by Sophia Hu, which won in the Best in Show category. Among the silver pieces “Itado” created by Matthieu Cheminee was awarded the first place while in enamel category the “Leaping Tree Frog” with striking colors crafted by Carina Wong bagged the top honor. In the “Art Objects” section, the award was won by “Cheap Thrills” designed by Jason Baide. The “Rocky Mountains Memories” bracelet created by Wolfgang Vaatz won the award in the Couture/Fine Jewelry Collection space.The Saul Bell Design Award is an annual occurrence where designers from several countries submit their creations and this year saw hundreds register and participate. Designs submitted for the awards represent the pinnacle of achievement in terms of jewelry from around the world.The winners were selected by a team of experts during two rounds of judging and were honored during a celebration held last month.
