Galerie Philippe Gravier is presenting brilliant works by Rudy Ricciotti, Sou Fujimoto, Kengo Kuma, RDAI, and Claude Parent at Design Basel 2018.Galerie Philippe Gravier has introduced two concepts — “Maisons d’Edition,” between art and architecture, and “Elements of Architecture,” between architecture and sculpture. “Maisons d’Edition” features small, nomadic homes imagined and designed by architects, homes that must be movable and sustainable. While “Elements of Architecture” are produced more as sculptures than as design, and demonstrate each architect’s signature style and excellence in limited editions of five. The gallery is presenting its “Elements of Architecture” at the Design Basel 2018. «Elements of Architecture» has more structural element than design element and each architectural structure has a unique style associated with each architect’s personal signature and excellence. They are produced in a limited edition of five by special order at the gallery.Sou Fujimoto is bringing “Forest of Books,” (2016) composed of five sculptures-bookshelves in edition of five. According to Fujimoto, “libraries are, beyond time, an assembly of different era, past and future, a combination of search ability and stroll ability. A trip, a non-linear journey, in a search of a story, information, a discovery. Five of them, floating in space. Like an interpretation of the readings, they are wanderings, slightly drifting away.”Kengo Kuma brings a variety of objects which include Chandelier (2017), Dining Room Table from the Urushi Project (2017), Screen from the Urushi Project (2017), Console from the Urushi Project (2017) and Coffee Table from the Urushi Project (2017). Each element is unique and boasts of superior craftsmanship.Rudy Ricciotti brings a diverse collection for the Design Basel 2018 including “Elements of Architecture” (2010) and a variety of tables and consoles including Console from 2008 and Table Basse from 2008.Claude Parent drew in 2010, five elements of architecture, a unique project for the Galerie Philippe Gravier based on his experimental work «FONCTION OBLIQUE,» which was showcased in his solo show with the gallery. For the first time in Design Miami/Basel 2016, the gallery presented all these five elements of architecture.RDAI’s “Dining Room Pavilion” (2017) is a complex micro-architecture, a cupola within a wooden trelliswork. This dome houses a dining room, warm and surprising. The materials are natural and unprocessed. With little furniture and few objects, the pavilion’s atmosphere is sober, almost Asian, despite its Classical Latin volumes. The lighting is diffused and enveloping.Galerie Philippe Gravier is exhibiting through June 17, 2018 at Design Miami/ Basel, Booth G20, Hall 1 Sud, Messe Basel, Switzerland.http://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
