ammann//gallery is participating for the 13th time at Design Miami/Basel. This year the gallery will focus specially on craftsmanship, with exhibits ranging from abstract furniture pieces to elegant design objects. On display will be works by Ad Hoc, Ron Arad, Florian Borkenhagen, Zaha Hadid, Studio Nucleo, Satyendra Pakhale, Ettore Sottsass, Richard Woods and Abel Zavala. The works by the world-renowned architect and designer Ron Arad are realized through both craft and technology. Since 1991, Ammann has been working with him, and for this year´s presentation at Design Miami/Basel, selected pieces from his oeuvre will be the primary focus of the gallery presentation. Pritzker Laureate Dame Zaha Hadid was a pioneer and consistently pushed the boundries of architecture, as well as urban and interor design. In early 2007, ammann // gallery presented its first one-woman show with Zaha Hadid, in which numerous works were on view for the first time. Satyendra Pakhale’s “Bell Metal Collection,” made of bronze, metal sheet and copper alloy, reflects on the impact of technology in the artisan process. For the first time at the fair, ammann//gallery will be exhibiting the work of British painter, artist, and designer Richard Woods. His lacquered wood tables from 2018 with its Tudor-inspired patterns, seem to wrap their surroundings by using cartoonish decorative hand-printed surfaces. Italian design group Studio Nucleo has a long trajectory blending craftsmanship and material innovation.Their series Stone Fossils and Souvenirs from the Last Century are the perfect examples of their mastership, transforming resin and conserving antique pieces of wood, creating functional objects that could become fossils of the future. Mexican ceramist Abel Zavala’s new series of wall ceramic sculptures, Genesis, has been specially commissioned and will be world premiered at Design Miami/Basel. Design duo Ad Hoc transforms the old artisan tradition of “papel picado” by using a contemporary approach and unusual materials such as leather and brass for the creation of their showstopper “Huixcolotla Sideboard.”ammann//gallery will showcase from June 12 through June 17, 2018 at Booth G15, Design Miami/ Basel, Hall 1 Sud, Messe Basel, Switzerland.http://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
