Commit to voting this November and help protect TPS recipients like Alex

Alex was visiting Miami for New Year’s when her home country of Haiti was devastated by a catastrophic earthquake in January 2010, just one day before she was supposed to return. “It’s one of the worst feelings,” she says in a video from The Love Vote campaign, “knowing that you’re not with your family in a time of tragedy like that.” The 7.0 earthquake killed an estimated 220,000 people and displaced hundreds of thousands more.  But Alex also considers herself “very lucky.” She was able to gain Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which allows recipients to live and work here legally when natural disasters or other extraordinary circumstances make it too dangerous for them to return to their home countries. Here, Alex “built a new life,” working, building relationships, and pursuing her “greatest passion,” dancing. “Miami is home to me now,” she says. But, after nearly a decade here, her future is again at stake, following the Trump administration rescinding TPS for hundreds of thousands of recipients like Alex. Officials knew, particularly in Haiti’s case, that ongoing conditions merited the continuation of these protections, but ended them anyway. “It was a heartbreak with that final news,” she said, “like, ‘get your papers ready, you’re going back.’” The lives of TPS recipients are in limbo. While a judge put a temporary hold on the administration’s move, what would bring the most stability to settled immigrants who have homes and lives and families here is permanent legislation—and we need a Democratic Congress that will do that. To win that, Alex needs us to vote on her behalf. “I don’t want to be anywhere,” she said. “I want to be here … every vote counts. If you’re able to do it, you should do it.” Watch Alex’s video below, THEN COMMIT TO VOTING for young Americans-in-waiting like her. Trump seized upon a 'caravan' to turn out his virulently racist base; the media may help him do it

One of the biggest impediments to defeating the Republican slide from conservatism to white nationalism is the press insistence on inventing nuance where there is none. Donald Trump and Republicans are seizing on a so-called «caravan» of refugees and asylum-seekers bound, eventually, for the United States because their base of rancid racists find such things uniquely terrifying. Trump himself believes the caravan images are so politically potent for Republicans and so damaging for Democrats, people who have spoken with him about the approach said that he’s vowed to bring up the caravan wherever and whenever he can, even when he isn’t being prompted by others. “There is now video on TV screens that matches the feeling on the ground that the president has felt for the past three years,” said a person familiar with the polling reviewed by Trump's team. But a bunch of families fleeing poverty and horrific violence isn't scary enough for anyone who's not a die-hard racist, so that's why Trump and his fellow race-baiters are inventing new details on the fly to try to be more racist-er about it. There are secret Middle Easterners hiding in the group, Trump and his vice presidential bunion warn! It might be, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz tosses out on social media, a plot by a suspiciously Jewish billionaire! It's all racism, top to bottom, the end. If it wasn't racism they wouldn't be throwing in all the little racist details; if it wasn't racism Donald Trump wouldn't give a damn about it to begin with. The notion of «invading» refugees somehow being a threat to the United States, even as we take in, for example, far fewer Syrian war refugees than a truly decent nation would, etc, has long been an explicitly racist premise peddled by white nationalists, white supremacists, and their allies (e.g. the National Rifle Association). The premise is that non-white immigrants are uniquely dangerous to «American culture» because reasons; the perceived danger is not terrorism or or overpopulation, but «taco trucks on every corner» and someone with a slightly different skin tone than your own someday marrying your daughter and coming to Thanksgiving dinner. This isn't hard, and Trump is not hiding his intent. Trump is directing his various acolytes and hangers-on to engage in racism against a distant «caravan» because he himself believes racism is the most potent motivator for his base. He is, for once, absolutely correct. And the media is going to help the racists peddle these theories because that is, every time, what they do. It is imperative that we reverse the tide of nationalist hate by turning out voters and throwing Republicans from their nationwide offices: Click here, enter your zip code, and RSVP for a volunteer shift.

Donald Trump provides valuable advice to the Saudi royals: Do a better job on the cover-up

On Tuesday afternoon, Donald Trump touched on the most critical issue in the Saudi government’s arranged murder and dismemberment of a journalist who had dared to speak up against both the royal family and Donald Trump. Trump: They had a very bad original concept. It was carried out poorly and the cover-up was one of the worst cover-ups in the history of cover-ups. Some of this appears to be complaints about the skill with which the Saudi crown prince carried out the assassination of a journalist—not that he was killed. Just that it was “carried it out poorly.” But most of Trump’s ire is reserved for the Saudi’s poor cover-up skills. As ABC reports, the Saudi story has shifted constantly since Jamal Khashoggi first disappeared inside their Istanbul consulate. With momentary pauses on everything from “we know nothing” to “rogue killers” to the current champion of “he got in a fist fight.” For Trump, all of this is just embarrassing. The Saudis’ sloppy body-double work. The poor editing. The complete lack of either nuclear threats or overt racism to distract the public from the current story. It just all speaks to a nation that’s not in Donald Trump’s cover-up league. Donald Trump could have put them in touch with … well, maybe not Michael Cohen. Someone. Maybe Mark Burnett. He knows how to carve out a concept . And how to edit the tapes so that even that a idiotic racist with a violent temper comes out looking like a sage leader. Really. This whole thing could have been handled without a problem. If they’d just come to Trump first.

Porsche to price Taycan between the Cayenne and Panamera

German auto giant Porsche is all likely to position their Taycan below their own Panamera sedan when the electric four-door sports car makes it to the markets next year. The car is expected to have a starting price above 80,000 euros, (approximately $92,500).Robert Meier, who is the complete vehicle model line director for the Taycan said “We’re expecting a price somewhere between a Cayenne and a Panamera.” Once taxes are included the vehicle would cost between 74,828  and 90,655 euros for its base version in Germany. Though Lutz Meschke, the CFO of Porsche told the media that he wants to offer higher-performance versions of the Taycan which could be priced as much as 200,000 euros, like a Taycan Turbo S.Taycan’s two permanently synchronous electric motors are supplied by Magneti Marelli of Italy. The motors will produce more than 600 hp and accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in less than 3.5 seconds. Well, that would be a first for an electric bolstered engine we guess! The Taycan also aims to be the fastest series production electric car around the Nordschleife race track of Germany, with a lap time of less than 8 minutes.Auto industry experts have been claiming that Taycan could pose a serious threat to Tesla if it really delivers what it’s promising. The Tesla Model S has been ruling the full-sized electric sedan market since quite some time now. Well, one must admit that this car completely changed the perception of people of what electric cars were really capable of. They are sleek, fast and equipped with real range.Tesla’s Model S has been called a true no-compromises vehicle. Out of all the cars out there to compete with the Model S, it’s the Taycan by Porsche everyone has set their eyes on. The Taycan was earlier known as the Mission E sedan. Since it debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the car has captured the imagination of EV aficionados. A legacy automaker, Porsche is leaving no stone unturned in making Taycan a successful vehicle. Initially released with an RWD option, all variants of The Tesla Model S are now Dual Motor AWD.In comparison, Porsche is using permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) for the Taycan and being true to the Porsche tradition, the PSM motors are race-bred, having been used in the Porsche 919 Hybrid race car. So, maybe the Taycan will have the edge over Tesla when it comes to power. What may be the deciding factor is the price of the two. It also depends on what the buyer is looking for? Style, Speed, Sophistication or Simplicity.  Founder: Louise Blouinhttps://www.blouinartinfo.com
