Christie’s upcoming auction at New York on January 19, 2018 titled “Important American Furniture, Folk Art and Silver” consists of silver work by Tiffany & Co., New York, and Joseph and Nathaniel Richardson, Philadelphia, among others.The highlights of the sale include a Queen Anne Figured Maple Dressing Table from 1750-1760 (Estimate USD 250,000 - USD 500,000), a Queen Anne inlaid walnut and walnut veneered high chest-of-drawers and en suite dressing table, Ipswich, Massachusetts, 1735-1760 (Estimate USD 200,000 - USD 400,000), and a rare silk- and metal-on-linen needlework pictorial wrought by Mary Russell (b. 1779) (Estimate USD 60,000 - USD 90,000) among others. Apart from furniture, paintings, figurines, and clocks the auction also features an array of silverware such as a pair of American silver nine-light candelabra by Tiffany & Co., New York from the 1893 Colombian Exposition (Estimate USD 50,000 - USD 80,000), a circa 1910 American silver flatware service from Tiffany & Co., New York (Estimate USD 50,000 - USD 80,000), and an American silver and mixed-metal three-piece ale drinking set as well (Estimate USD 50,000 - USD 70,000). Intricate workmanship can also be observed in pieces such as American silver large two-handled presentation punch bowl from Whiting Mfg.
