Gallery Dutko first took notice of Lauren Collin’s paper bas-relief work, created for Gilles & Bossier, at an exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2014.A graduate from ESAG, Collin worked with an architecture firm before being discovered by Dutko and joining the gallery full time as an artist.Inspired by nature and her observations of everything around her, Collin creates new perspectives through her exquisite paper works. The artist executes her artistic vision on white or black paper, with trickles of blue paint highlighting some of the bas-reliefs. Though her works bear resemblance to origami, but they are more of “a reinterpretation than a faithful image.” The ongoing exhibition “Carved Papers” takes the viewer on a mysterious journey led by the artist on her terms and agreement.Collin debuted her paper works in an exhibition in 2016. Since then, she has been commissioned for prestigious projects including 18 art pieces for Hotel Crillion in Paris, and a monumental work for Christian Liaigre in New York. The artist was also a finalist of prestigious "Liliane Bettancourt Prix pour l’Intelligence de la main.”“Carved Papers” is on view through February 3, 2018 at Gallery Dutko, Bonaparte, 11, Rue Bonaparte, Paris. For more details, visit: www.dutko.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
