Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) recently revealed its long list of nominees for the RIBA International Prize. The list includes 62 masterpieces from close to 30 countries.The prestigious award, spanning continents and varied building styles, is the ultimate architectural recognition for design excellence. Some of the buildings include the Sayama Forest Chapel in Japan, Heatherwick Studio’s Zeitz MOCAA in Africa that re-imagines a grain factory into a new contemporary art museum, the Cabbage Tree House by Peter Stutchbury in Australia, and the BBVA Bancomer Tower in Mexico City, designed as a collaboration between Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Legorreta + Legorreta.The jury will be headed by New York-based Diller Scofidio + Renfro’s Elizabeth Diller this year, and the panel will include Joshua Bolchover, co-founder of Rural Urban Frameworks and winner of the 2016 RIBA International Emerging Architect, and Wayne McGregor CBE. A shortlist will be created after carefully studying the candidates, from which only one winner will emerge victorious. The results of the RIBA International Prize will be announced in December 2018, noted Wallpaper. Read more
